Communities where we live and work

Arts Commons

We are the Presenting Sponsor of the Arts Commons National Geographic Live speaker series. Using award-winning photographs and video, these storytellers share adventures from the field, reporting on a wide range of human interest and conservation topics and sharing messages of exploration and discovery to inspire adult and student audiences.

Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK)

Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) is a local charity that makes and delivers healthy school lunches for ~5,000 kids each day. Throughout the year, we offer volunteer opportunities for our staff to spend a morning helping with lunch preparations. We are proud to be long-time partners and friends of BB4CK, providing assistance through employee volunteer hours and financial support, helping to ensure no kids go hungry.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo

ConocoPhillips staff volunteer to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo mentorship program for students from Father Perrin School in Janvier, AB. This program matches students with volunteers. During the mentoring sessions, our volunteers led the youth through sports activities, safety presentations, a scavenger hunt, board games and much more.

Calgary Drop-In Centre

Since 2009, CPC has donated over $200,000 to the Calgary Drop-in Centre (DI) and volunteered over 850 hours, serving lunch to the residents of the DI. The DI programs help people regain independence (when possible) and advocate for people who require exceptional medical, mental, and day-to-day support to be successful in the community.

Dreams Take Flight

Since 2009 we have been a proud supporter of Dreams Take Flight, a national charity that provides children who have experienced medical, physical or emotional and mental trauma with a trip to Disneyland. Throughout the year we provide financial support, gifts-in-kind and employee volunteer hours to support this magic-making organization.

Radiance Society

We have a long-standing relationship with Radiance Society and are proud to provide financial support, gifts-in-kind and employee volunteer hours to their work in the community. Radiance’s services include operating the Radiance Centre, a second-stage shelter serving women and children affected by domestic violence, and the Radiance Children’s Centre, which offers specialized care for children living at Radiance Centre and from the community. The Children’s Centre – an accredited and licensed childcare program – is the first of its kind in Canada to offer an integrated program designed to meet the needs of both the typically developing child and the needs of children who have been exposed to family violence and emotional trauma. Our staff raise money for Radiance throughout the year via fundraising activities like bake sales and jeans days so we can “adopt” the families living at Radiance during the holiday season. On “Delivery Day” in December, our staff volunteers drop off new home essentials and gifts for the women and families living at Radiance. We also provide employee volunteer hours throughout the year as needed.

The Salvation Army Fort St. John Community Church

We are pleased to support the annual Huskies Fill the Bus Food Drive. This food drive continues to be a significant contributor to the Salvation Army's Food Bank fundraising and their ability to provide assistance to those in need in the Fort St. John community.

Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association

Because no one should go hungry, we support the Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s Mobile Pantry Program, which addresses geographically isolated, low-income communities, where residents experience chronic hunger and food insecurity. We also contribute to an annual Corporate Challenge and Food Drive.

New Canadians

We are proud to support programs for new Canadians like the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, a work experience training program. Our participation in this program consists of hiring one individual each year for a work term. We have also provided financial support to the Calgary Fire Department for the development and translation of multilingual educational materials (e.g., brochures, posters, web copy, social media posts, videos) to help promote public and fire safety messaging.
