Tristan Howes
Vice President, Montney Operations
Tristan Howes was named ConocoPhillips Canada's vice president, Montney Operations, in January 2026.
Originally from Western Australia, Howes has 24 years of experience in the oil and gas and chemical refining industries, including 19 in a leadership capacity. He joined ConocoPhillips in 2012 as an operations superintendent at the Curtis Island APLNG Mega Project in Queensland, leading the Operations teams through commissioning, startup and steady state operations of one of the world's first coal seam gas to LNG facilities. Howes has also held diverse roles throughout his career including in Operations Integrity, Integrated Operations, LNG Benchmarking, Innovation and Engineering.
During his time at APLNG, Howes served as a board member and chair for Welcoming Intercultural Neighbors, a not-for-profit supporting international newcomers and their families with integration to the Gladstone community.
Howes earned a Post-Graduate Certificate in Process Engineering at Central Queensland University in 2006. He also holds a Mechanical Trade Certificate along with numerous technical certificates in Process Operations.
