Nicolai Lenning
Vice President, Surmont Operations
Nicolai Lenning was named ConocoPhillips Canada's vice president, Surmont Operations, in January 2026.
His responsibilities include leadership of the Canada Engineering and Surmont Production and Operations Integration teams.
Originally from Oslo, Lenning joined Phillips Petroleum in 2002 in the Norway business unit, later ConocoPhillips Norway. He spent his initial career working both off- and onshore in various roles within Wells, Operations, HSE, Maintenance and Production Delivery; since 2007, primarily in a leadership capacity.
During his tenure at ConocoPhillips Alaska (2019-20), Lenning held the role of Alaska Engineering and Asset Integrity Manager. He joined the Canada business unit in 2024, after holding leadership roles in Operations and Development at ConocoPhillips Norway.
For more than two decades, Lenning has volunteered as part of a mountain rescue team in Norway, with several alpine rescue missions in the region.
Lenning earned a Master of Business Administration from the Norwegian School of Economics in 2017 and a master's degree in Reservoir Engineering from Stavanger University College in 2002. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Petroleum Technology.
