City of Calgary
Wilder Institute / Calgary Zoo
ConocoPhillips Canada is proud to sponsor the Wilder Institute’s Whooping Crane Recovery Program.
In the 1940s, only 21 whooping cranes remained in the wild due to overhunting and habitat loss. Since then, dedicated conservation breeding and reintroduction programs have helped to increase this number to approximately 660 wild birds in 2021.
With support from partners, like ConocoPhillips Canada, the Wilder Institute is continuing its work to establish self-sustaining populations of whooping cranes in the wild. We’re proud to lend our ongoing support to help conserve this iconic North American bird.
NAIT Surmont Boreal Reclamation Project
We partner with NAIT on this high-impact applied research initiative to develop cost-effective reclamation methods that will help ConocoPhillips and other companies operating in Canada’s oil sands exceed Alberta's reclamation standards.
Youth Central
Youth Central is a non-profit organization established in Calgary in 1992 that offers programs to provide meaningful volunteer experiences for the city's youth. Each year, Youth Central organizes the Youth of Distinction Awards that recognize youth for the difference they make to our community. The awards are focused on daily choices youth make and the impact their choices have on those around them. As a company committed to environmental stewardship, we are pleased to support the Youth of Distinction Environmental Award.
