Making Magic Happen with Dreams Take Flight

About

After (presumably) a big cup of coffee, our volunteers made their way to the Calgary International Airport for 4 a.m. to help 150 young travelers navigate their way through the morning as they got ready to board a very important plane: a direct flight to Disneyland. It is through our support of Dreams Take Flight that we get to participate in such a memorable day.

“I’m really glad that I was able to be part of this unforgettable opportunity,” says Janine Acker, who works in ConocoPhillips' Land group. “Dreams Take Flight is an important organization and I’m proud to work for a company that understands the significance of giving back to the community.”

ConocoPhillips has been a supporter of Dreams Take Flight since 2009 and seeing the children off to Disneyland has become an annual tradition for our staff. Dreams Take Flight is a national non-profit charity that provides children who have experienced medical, physical, or emotional and mental trauma with a free trip to Disneyland.

At the end of a busy day, the kids boarded a flight back home to Calgary and were reunited with their parents just after midnight.

A Meaningful Experience

“It’s a wonderful thing to be part of such a meaningful experience for these kids,” says Yeoshim Oh, ConocoPhillips' Health, Safety and Environment analyst. “It’s exciting to see them off to Disneyland knowing that they’ll make memories to last a lifetime.”
