Nick McKenna is president of ConocoPhillips Canada.

McKenna has 28 years of industry experience. He joined ConocoPhillips in Houston in 2007. In 2010, he was seconded to Australia Pacific LNG as the general manager, Project Office. Between 2013 and 2017 he was based in Calgary, where he served as vice president, Oil Sands Development, and then vice president, Oil Sands Development and Subsurface. In July 2017, he returned to Houston as asset manager, Central Rockies and Anadarko. 

In April 2019, McKenna assumed the role of president, Australian East business unit. In September 2020, he became CEO of Australia Pacific LNG. In June 2022, he returned to the U.S. as vice president, Midland Basin. 

Before joining ConocoPhillips, he worked for McKinsey & Company in Houston. He also worked for Technip in Houston, Halliburton Subsea in Singapore and Brown & Root Energy Services in Australia. At these firms, he held a number of engineering and supervisory roles.  

McKenna earned a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Australia in 1994, a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in System Design and Management in 2004, and a doctorate in Engineering Systems in 2006; both postgraduate degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
