Lloyd Visser was appointed Vice President, Environment and Sustainable Development in January 2009. Prior to this, he served as general manager, Environment and Stakeholder Engagement, for ConocoPhillips Canada.
Visser began his career on international projects, focused on capacity building and rural development. Beginning in 1990, he consulted on a wide range of environmental assessment, planning and regulatory approvals projects within Canada and internationally. In 2000, Visser joined Gulf Canada, which was later acquired by ConocoPhillips.
Visser leads a team of environment, regulatory and stakeholder engagement professionals who are embedded in the company's Western Canada and Oil Sands business units. These teams support the business to ensure key environmental and socio-economic aspects of the business are responsibly addressed.
Visser’s areas of responsibility include setting sustainable development strategy, commitments and reporting, major project regulatory approvals, Indigenous relations and external affairs including community investment and government relations.
Visser earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science from the University of Calgary.
